Crimson Pygmy BarberryThe crimson pygmy barberry is a dense branched, dwarf shrub with a deep crimson foliage that will last all season long. The crimson pygmy japanese barberry is great for creating a small hedge, for landscape bed borders or add it to your rock garden. You can keep it in a round formal form by trimming it as needed or let it grow natural for those naturalistic gardens. For best color make sure to plant in full sun, planting them in partial shade will give you more green foliage. The crimson barberry foliage color goes good with plants of contrasting color, such as the Sea gold juniper, Golden nugget barberry or a Gold forsythia. Plants with colors of pink and/or white will complement the crimson pygmy's summer and fall foliage. Being a deciduous shrub you will not have much winter interest, so make sure to add some plants that stay green during the winter. There are many evergreen conifers and broad-leaved plants, such as boxwoods and junipers. Barberry Information
