Broadmoor Juniper

Broadmoor juniper is a dense mound of branches that spread gracefully along the ground. It grows to 2 or 3 feet tall and spreads out 6 or more feet in a horizontal manner. Semi-arid to moist as long as there is good drainage.

This is an excellent low maintenance Juniper evergreen ground cover for slopes or areas that you don't want to fuss with.

This juniper grows at a moderate rate, so if you have a large area to cover it will fill in fairly quickly. This shrub does well in coastal areas. The evergreen foliage looks nice all year round. It does well in heat and cold.

There are no noticeable blooms on this plant, but berries may form that birds and other wild animals find delicious. This plant is often used in residential and commercial landscaping.

Landscaping Ideas for the Broadmoor

Plant Broadmoor juniper any place you have high winds. They don't bother this shrub at all. Use as a filler in planting beds and borders or use in mass plantings to control erosion.

This is a great plant to use in poor soils. The bright green foliage is cheery and bright all year long.

Use as a ground cover or to make a small windscreen for patios and decks. They are wonderful around retaining walls as they will spread enough to cascade down them. Plant them in rock gardens, too.

Companion plants that work well with Broadmoor juniper include dwarf pampas grass, Japanese silver grass, black fountain grass and Blue Pacific Shore juniper. It also makes a nice foundation plant against bare walls. It tolerates heat and drought well.

Broadmoor Plant and Care Tips

Plant your Broadmoor juniper in a sunny or partially sunny spot. It will not thrive in shade. Water regularly until well established, when it becomes very drought tolerant. Use compost only on junipers as chemical fertilizers will tend to overwhelm them with nutrients.

This plant is low maintenance and hardly ever needs trimming. It is resistant to juniper blight. Plant them in areas bothered by deer and rabbits as they will tend to leave this plant alone. Pollution and wind will not bother this hardy plant either.
