Blue Point Juniper

Blue Point Juniper is a stately plant that maintains its shape well. This evergreen shrub makes a wonderful specimen or screen plant. Growing up to 14 feet tall, it will command attention no matter where you put it.

This plant has a pyramidal shape that is densely branched. It loves a sunny location, so you can easily use it as a focal point. This juniper tolerates cold weather very well and remains healthy for years. The blue green foliage is attractive year round even in a less than ideal spot.

Using The Blue Point In Your Landscape

Blue Point Juniper is massive in size. Its pyramidal shape makes it the perfect choice for a specimen in the center of a lawn. Decorate it during the holidays if you wish.

Put two at the base of a driveway or you can use them to frame an entryway. Plant several in a row to create a wonderful windbreak. The dense foliage will stop the wind in its tracks.

This juniper is a good choice for a Zen garden or an eco-friendly yard. It uses little water once it is established, so it would even work well in a xeriscape. This juniper works well as a topiary subject.

Planting And Care

Blue Point Juniper is easy to grow. It adapts well to most conditions and soils. It does not like wet soil. Plant it in a sunny spot where it can spread for the best results.

If you wish to keep it in a specific form, pruning is necessary, although its natural pyramidal form is very pleasing to the eye. Blue Point Juniper can be made into a spiral topiary or a colonnade shape. Its dense growth habit looks lovely in these shapes.

This plant is drought tolerant once it is established. Hedges will need annual pruning to keep them even. Pollen may cause an allergic reaction in some people. This juniper resists deer and other wildlife damage. It attracts birds that enjoy the tiny juniper berries.
